Calamar Celebrates Grand Opening of Harrison Heights
HARRISON HEIGHTS SENIOR VILLAGE
(April 26, 2012, Omaha, NE) Calamar celebrated the grand opening of Harrison Heights Senior Village, a new 112-unit senior apartment community in LaVista with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 26th. Harrison Heights Senior Village provides independent living with no income restrictions for those age 55+ young. Located at 7544 Gertrude Street, the apartments are available in both 1 and 2 bedroom suites and bundle many of the services into the rent structure to make them more cost effective. This type of senior living is virtually absent in the Omaha region with the exception of Woodbridge Senior Village - another Calamar property with the same concept - located in the Woodbridge area, near Immanuel Hospital.
"We've been extremely successful with this product in other markets where there is presently a seven to eleven year waiting list at existing facilities for affordable senior housing", said Calamar Chairman Kenneth M. Franasiak. "We truly believe in creating affordable and competitive housing options for the senior community where currently they are faced with either no appropriate housing choices, high rent options or the extensive wait list. We found the same to be true in Omaha where facilities of this nature are non-existent." Harrison Heights represents a $10 Million dollar investment by Calamar for the Omaha region.
"This is our second senior housing asset in Omaha. We are extremely enthusiastic about the opportunities this project represents by offering much lower, competitive rents which will enable seniors to enjoy their "golden years" without liquidating their assets.", said Assistant Director of Senior Services Sam Reeder. "We're certainly excited to establish this brand of community in Omaha and create a better senior living program for its residents".
Both one and two bedroom, pet friendly apartments are available with rents ranging from $820.00 to $940.00 per month. Standard cable television is included in the rent. The apartments feature a community room with kitchen; a lounge/library with a fireplace; and community laundry as well as laundry connections in each apartment. All units are furnished with a stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. Garages are available on a first-come, first serve basis at an additional cost. Calamar is also initiating their successful SELF (Seniors Empowered to Live Life to the Fullest) program in Omaha as well, which is a link to local services and agencies ranging from meal supplement programs to transportation options. This enables people to choose the services they need while helping alleviate high rents.
Pamela Jackson, property manager for Harrison Heights reiterates the value and benefits these apartments will accomplish. "This is a much needed and desirable senior community and will definitely fill the void of available options and provides a much needed alternative to the expensive, amenity driven options that are out there".
