CALAMAR BREAKS GROUND ON INDEPENDENCE SENIOR COMMUNITY - FOURTH IN MIDWEST REGION
(October 2, 2013) Calamar, a New York based full service real estate organization, celebrated today with a ground breaking ceremony for their fourth senior community in the Mid-West. The City of Independence, MO is welcoming The Springs at Independence to their community. Local dignitaries as well as senior management from Calamar gathered for a ground breaking ceremony at the site of the new 110-unit senior housing community. The Springs at Independence is an independent living apartment complex with no income restrictions for those age 55+ young. Located at 19301 East 50th Terrace South, the 3-story building will have both 1 & 2 bedroom apartments and provide a truly economically solution to senior living.
"We've been extremely successful with this market in the Buffalo, New York region where there is presently an extensive waiting list at existing facilities for affordable senior housing", said Calamar President Kenneth M. Franasiak. "We truly believe in creating affordable and competitive housing options for the senior community where currently they are faced with either no appropriate housing choices, high rent options or the extensive wait list. We found the same to be true in the mid-west where facilities of this nature are non-existent. We currently have Woodbridge Senior Village in Omaha, Harrison Heights Senior Village in LaVista, The Grand Reserve in Elkhorn (currently under construction) and now, The Springs at Independence will mark our fourth senior community in the Midwest in a little over three years".
"The Springs at Independence will cater to middle class income households. Our model will enable our residents to enjoy comfortable living at competitive and economical pricing facilitating seniors to preserve their assets for their individual long term goals", said Director of Senior Services and Lifestyles Tina Vinocur. "The economic issues of today have greatly impacted seniors and we are excited to continue to forge forward and bring this affordable housing model to the mid-west".
Both one and two bedroom, pet friendly apartments are available with rents ranging from $815-1050 per month. The Springs at Independence will offer several different layouts for both the 1 and 2 bedroom apartments with many offering 1.5 bath options. All apartments will come equipped with a front loader washer and dryer. The property will feature a community room with kitchen for events and entertaining that is available to residents free of charge; lounge/library with fireplace; a community laundry, and much more. All units will be furnished with a stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. Garages are available on a first-come, first serve basis at an additional cost.
"The Springs at Independence will definitely fill the void and provide a much needed alternative to the expensive, amenity driven options that are out there", said Vinocur.
The Springs at Independence represents an $11 million dollar investment and is expected to be completed by late summer 2014. There are no entry fees, buy-ins or surcharges. For more information, contact 855-553-5585.
