2000-2009
In 2000, the land that would become The Woodlands Corporate Center West was purchased. In 2001 the first portfolio project in the park was built, which would become Calamar's corporate headquarters. The Woodlands Corporate Center is one of the largest mixed use developments in Upstate New York, which is home to hundreds of residential, hundreds of thousands of commercial and industrial space, and thousands of employees.
In addition in 2001, Calamar merged with Advanced Building Systems (ABS) and became the only general contractor in Western New York to offer the concrete tilt-up construction technology. This method of construction was used on the majority of Calamar buildings within the park.
In 2004,the purchase and expansion of the Summit Healthplex on Williams Road in Wheatfield and the W.N.Y. Medical Park in West Seneca made Calamar one of the largest medical landlords and building managers in upstate New York. Furthermore in 2004, Calamar formed it's management group to manage both the Calamar portfolio as well as 3rd party assets.
In 2005, our first acquisition outside of WNY occurred with the purchase of land in Niagara-on-the-lake, Ontario, Canada called The Compass Centre. As a result, Calamar's Canadian construction division known as Calamar Construction Canada (CCC) was formed.
In 2008 Calamar Capital Services was formed to expand strategically into the capital markets. Shortly there after, CCS issued its first private placement fund. Since that time CCS has grown to be a primer boutique.
Calamar's 15 year strategic plan allowed it to grow and flourish during the "Great Recession" while others faltered.
